It is the oldest temple in Gifu Prefecture and is called “Mino Kiyomizu” because its stage-like main hall resembles that of Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. There is a two-story pagoda in the precincts, which is said to have been built by Hojo Masako in the 12th century and is designated as a national important cultural property . It is also known as “Takasawa Kannon” and its principal image, Senjyu Kannon, is well known as a guardian Buddha for  business prosperity, family safety, easy delivery, and child blessing.

This temple is located at an altitude of 434m, almost at the top of Mt Takazawa. The view of Hida, Mino, Ibuki, and Yoro Mountains from this mountain is very beautiful. The precincts covered with old trees, which are hundreds of square meters, are a scenic and sacred place. In and ground this temple you can enjoy cherry blossoms and mountain azaleas in spring, fireflies and ayu fishing in summer, autumn leaves, chestnuts and matsutake mushrooms in fall.
